Batch Rate Intelligence

WHAT IS IT?

Batch Rate Intelligence is a multi-lane pricing workflow built for RFP, RFQ, mini-bid and pricing analysis.

Users can upload a lane file, enter or import target bid rates, compare those bids against market rates and projected rate movements, and identify lanes that may need additional review before pricing is submitted.

The tool helps pricing teams move beyond static spreadsheets by giving them a centralized place to review bid positioning, market guidance, seasonality and potential margin risk across large lane files.

WHAT DOES IT TELL ME?

Batch Rate Intelligence helps users understand how uploaded lanes compare to current and projected market conditions.

The tool can help answer:

  • How does my bid rate compare to the projected market rate?
  • Which lanes may create margin risk?
  • Which lanes have higher volatility or seasonal movement?
  • Where are rates expected to peak during the selected period?
  • Which lanes should be reviewed before finalizing pricing?
  • How does the overall bid file look across total lanes, average bid position, lane score, margin risk and volatility?

At the lane level, users can review spot and contract market context, forecasted rate movement, bid versus forecast differences, volatility and weeks at risk. This gives pricing teams a faster way to prioritize lanes and support internal pricing decisions.

HOW TO USE IT

1. Download the template

  • Start by selecting Download Template
  • Use the template to add your lane details. The template includes the standard fields needed to run the analysis, along with optional Bid Rate and Accessorial columns.
    • If you do not have a Bid Rate or Accessorials, those fields can be left blank.

2. Upload your lane file

  • Select Upload File and choose whether to append lanes to your existing batch or replace the current file.
  • Once uploaded, the tool will process the lanes and load them into the lane table.

If there are small file errors, such as an incorrect ZIP code, country code or missing equipment type, users may be able to correct those directly in the tool and resubmit the lane.

3. Review the summary cards

At the top of the page, summary cards provide a quick read on the uploaded file.

These cards include:

  • Total Lanes: Total number of lanes in the batch
  • Average Bid vs. Forecast % Difference: Average difference between the bid rate and projected market rate
  • Average Lane Score: Average SONAR lane score across the uploaded lanes
  • Lanes at Margin Risk: Number of lanes where the bid may fall below the projected market rate by more than the selected risk threshold
  • High Volatility: Number of lanes with higher projected rate movement

These cards help users quickly understand whether the bid file looks balanced overall or whether certain lanes may need review.

4. Review the lane table

The lane table allows users to scan, sort and filter uploaded lanes.

Key fields include:

  • Bid Rate: The target bid rate for the lane
  • Accessorial: Any accessorial amount tied to the lane
  • Forecast Trend: A forward-looking trend view for the selected time period
  • Forecast Rate: The projected median market rate for the selected period
  • Bid vs. Forecast: The percentage difference between the bid rate and projected market rate
  • Volatility: A measure of projected rate movement during the selected period

Users can also adjust columns in Settings to customize what appears in the table.

5. Expand lane details

Expand a lane to open the Lane Details panel.

This view gives a deeper look at the selected lane, including:

  • A plain-language summary of the lane’s bid position
  • Current spot market context
  • Contract market context
  • Bid rate compared to the projected market rate
  • Average percentage difference versus forecast
  • Percentage of weeks at risk (where the bid rate falls below the forecast rate
  • A forecast trend chart showing projected rate movement over time

This section helps users understand why a lane may need review and how the bid compares to expected market movement.

6. Use filters and display toggles

Users can adjust the view using filters and display toggles.

Available options include:

  • Forecast period: 3, 6, 9 or 12 months
  • Rate metric: median, high or low
  • Equipment type
  • Origin and destination country
  • Origin and destination state
  •  Volatility
  • Weeks at risk variance
  • Flat rate or rate per mile view
  • Linehaul or all-in rate view

These options help users review pricing in the format that best matches their RFP or pricing workflow.

7. Add, refresh or delete lanes

Users can manually add a new lane without re-uploading a full file.

They can also refresh lanes, delete individual lanes or delete all lanes from the batch when needed.

8. Export results

  • Select Download Data or Export Data to export the results.
  • Users can export forecast periods for 3, 6, 9 or 12 months. If multiple periods are selected, the export will download as a ZIP file with individual files for each timeframe.
  • The export includes lane details, rate fields, forecast fields, scoring fields and risk fields to support internal review, customer conversations and final bid strategy.
