Freightos Air Index (FAX, FAXD)

WHAT IS IT?

The Freightos Air Index measures the daily spot price movements of air cargo globally and in 12 airport to airport regional lanes.

All FAX (Air) data is sourced from actual booked digital rates and/or real offered digital rates on WebCargo by Freightos. WebCargo serves dozens of airlines, 3,500+ freight forwarders across 10,000+ offices and accounting for thousands of bookings per day.

FAX(D) is published each day giving an indicative all-in spot rate for general cargo in US$ per kilogram for the previous 7 days on a rolling basis.

FAX(D) are available for the below:

WHO IS INTERESTED?

Anyone dealing with air cargo, or who wants to see how international air cargo rates signal changing freight market dynamics at major U.S. airport markets: Freight Forwarders, Carriers, Shippers, Brokers, Drayage providers.

WHAT DOES IT TELL ME?

The FAXD daily indices are very good indicators of the balance of air cargo volume and capacity flowing in the selected airport-to-airport regional lanes. A lot of freight originates overseas and then disseminates into freight networks across the US. Seeing a major price increase from Europe to North America, for instance, is a good indicator that truckload demand, especially for expedited freight, will grow soon.
