SONAR Truckload Headhaul Index (STHAUL)

WHAT IS IT?

The SONAR Truckload Headhaul Index (STHAUL) calculates the difference between the SONAR Truckload Outbound Volume (STVI) and the SONAR Truckload Inbound Volume. The SONAR Truckload Headhaul Index will calculate the difference between outbound and inbound volume in markets.

Example: Outbound Volume for Atlanta was 250 as of August 1. Inbound Volume for Atlanta was 200 as of August 1. STHAUL.ATL would be equal to (250) minus (200), STHAUL.ATL = 50.

WHAT DOES IT TELL ME?

The SONAR Truckload Headhaul Index is a good indicator of capacity changes. For example, if the spread between outbound volumes and inbound volumes increases, it could indicate capacity may be decreasing. This is a good way to evaluate change in available capacity over time.

Example: A user wants to see the SONAR Truckload Headhaul Index for the Albuquerque market. They would type STHAUL.ABQ
